A sustainable and egalitarian transport solution to the increasing pressures placed on London’s transport network.
SkyCycle
London
With London’s population looking to exceed 10 million by 2030, SkyCycle offers a solution to the increasing pressures placed upon the city’s transport system. Providing network capacity equivalent to Cross Rail 2 for a fraction of the cost, SkyCycle will use existing Rail infrastructure to create a new travel network for the capital.
SkyCycle will consist of 220km of a 20m wide dedicated cycle and pedestrian network built above the Network rail track in London, creating a scheme that will future proof the city’s transforming transport needs. Still in pre-feasibility, the ever-evolving concept will enable citizens to easily navigate their way throughout London.
ExA worked on the proposal alongside Foster + Partners and Space Syntax, having presented the scheme to London Mayor Boris Johnson and Sir David Higgins of Network Rail.
