Pedestrian permeability produces new connections that encourage social interaction and increased activity.
The Square Shopping Centre
Trafford
We have been working closely with the multi-disciplinary design team on the first phase of a mixed-use redevelopment of the Square Shopping Centre in Sale Town Centre.
The scheme will consist of a new cinema, food and beverage units, new and improved retail offer and 250 residential units. The proposal seeks to transform the dated and impenetrable 1960s shopping precinct into an inviting high-quality space, producing a new threshold public realm space and transformed central town square.
The key driver established during the concept design stage was the act of creating much needed pedestrian permeability in the town centre, opening the insular commercial core of Sale to the dense residential areas to the South. This provides a new connection route that will greatly rejuvenate this area of Sale, enabling space for social interaction and increased activity.
