Regenerating Maidenhead with landscape focussed vision.

Nicholsons Quarter

Maidenhead

Nicholson’s Yard is proposed on the site of a failing single storey 60s shopping centre, the Nicholson’s Centre; the scheme is widely viewed as one of the UK’s first shopping centre to town centre conversions.

The mixed-use project will deliver circa 660 new homes, workspace for over 2,000 thousand people, 60 shops and unique restaurants, and a public square.

The landscape vision focused on strengthening a sense of community through an inclusive and accessible public realm.  The main community hub, Sir Nicholas Winton Square, found at the heart of the town centre, offers a space to gather, socialise, play, and relax.   It is the civic and community anchor of the scheme, accommodating for a variety of community events, activities, and markets.  The Yards, a collection of lanes including a microbrewery, artisan shops, public artwork, and a variety of food stalls offer a contemporary spin on the public realm.  The scheme aims to reinvigorate the town centre, and provide a sustainable environment for people to live, work, shop, and play in the heart of Maidenhead.
